I've got Ants in my Pants.
This is Wet N Wild 'Ants in my Pants' from the Spoiled collection, which is exclusive to CVS.
Pictured are:
Nailtiques 2+
Three coats of WnW 'Ants in my Pants'
One coat of Poshe topcoat
This could have used about four coats of topcoat. I took it off earlier than I would have because it was getting really rough around the edges. The brush on this polish, which is wide and flat, made this a real bitch to work with. I did a lot of just plopping the glitter onto the nail, sometimes even laying the brush parallel to the nail to really get it on there. (Which isn't unusual for me to do with a glitter.)
This is something I'll probably just use on my toes from now on. It'd last forever as a pedicure!

jumping on the matted glitter bandwagon.
LOVED this mani.
This is:
Nailtiques 2+
Two coats of Revlon Colorstay 'Midnight'
One coat Kleancolor 'Afternoon Picnic'
One coat Poshe fast-dry top coat
One coat Essie Matte About You
I did have to do a little "glomming" on of the glitter, but it wasn't too bad and was totally worth it. I also really liked how the blue ended up giving it a bit of a chalkboard effect.
If you are mattefying your polish without using a topcoat too, and wondering about chipping, ADD A SHINY TOPCOAT under your matte topcoat. It's magical.

Milani Jewel FX 'Teal' vs Revlon 'Blue Mosaic'
They aren't dupes, but they're cousins. I like the Milani a lot better. Some of the silver glitters are holo, which gives it more dimension. It also seems to have more of the large glitter pieces than the Revlon does.

This is Ulta Professional Lacquer in Howl at the Moon. This was part of the 'Love Bites' duo.
This stuff lasted only a matter of hours before it started chipping. It only stayed on my nails for about 24 hours. I was not very impressed. This color looks black in just about every light but direct sunlight, which is how it's shown here. Not my kind of thing. It would probably look okay with some flakies or glitter over it, but with the chipping it totally isn't worth it.

I have a thing for yellow.
If that wasn't clear before, I bet it is now. This is Ulta Sun-Sational with a coat each of Milani Jewel FX Gems and Ulta Pinata-Yada. Pinata-Yada is my favorite of the multi-colored, multi-size glitters that I have. The biggest pieces are gold and red, which looks great. Sun-Sational is one of the better yellows I've ever worked with. I needed three coats, but it could have been done with two. It's not too streaky or chalky, like most yellows.
This mani totally reminds me of a fiesta! And I thought that before I realized Pinata-Yada was named such.

Robbie Burns is my boyfriend.
January is Burns Season.
If you're not familiar with the Scottish diaspora you probably don't know much about Robert Burns and that Scottish groups around the world celebrate his birthday every January at what we typically call Burns Nights (or Burns Dinner or Burns Supper or Burns Celebration). Burns wrote in the Scots language, which means you as an English speaker can generally get the gist of what he's saying, and wrote about things like haggis, a mouse's nest being destroyed, a louse in a wig. He wrote some pretty cheesy love poems, which get way more attention than (I think) they should. He also wrote Auld Lang Syne. Yeah, THAT Auld Lang Syne.
I like him because he was a working class guy. Not like Shakespeare who was born into a rich family, or any of his contemporaries who all were college educated pretty boys. He was out working in the fields (this is where To A Mouse came from) and this is probably what led to his premature death at age 37.
Burns's birthday is January 25th and Burns Dinners start in early January and some are even held in mid-February. I have danced in three this January. This is totally typical. Every obscure Scottish-related group has one and some are better than others. Every time, you sit through a history of Burns's life and a reading of some of his poems. There is a reading of his Address To A Haggis and typically a whiskey toast. Then there is often singing or dancing or other various Scottish-things, Burns-related or not. These all very greatly, depending on who is presenting them and the talent involved. Some are better than others, let's leave it at that.
